Matt Heesaker Claims 2026 Green Bay Area USBC Masters Title

The 37th Annual Green Bay Area USBC Masters Tournament took place on Saturday, February 7th at Willow Creek Lanes, bringing together the area’s top scratch bowlers for one of the most challenging and prestigious events of the season.

Following a four-game qualifying round, the top 16 bowlers advanced to head-to-head match play, where every frame mattered and there was no room for error.

Qualifying Sets the Stage

Qualifying featured a strong field and tight scoring throughout the standings. Scott Weber led the field after qualifying, with Ryan Ruf, Justin Stephens, and Rick Volhard close behind. The cut line came down to the wire, with just a handful of pins separating the final spots in the top 16.

Once match play began, the format shifted the tournament into survival mode — win and advance, lose and you’re done.

Match Play Delivers Upsets and Drama

The opening round immediately produced excitement, including multiple upsets as lower seeds knocked out top qualifiers. As the bracket progressed, consistency and shot-making under pressure became the deciding factors.

Matt Heesaker put together a strong run through match play, defeating Kyle Blaese, Dan Patterson, and Justin Stephens to earn a spot in the championship match. On the other side of the bracket, Scott Weber continued his impressive day by advancing through Brian Laurent, Chase Benites, and Ron Wilde to reach the finals.

Championship Match

The championship match featured two bowlers who had been steady all day. In the final head-to-head matchup, Matt Heesaker rose to the moment, delivering a clutch performance to defeat Scott Weber and capture the 2026 Green Bay Area USBC Masters Championship.

Weber finished as runner-up, capping off a strong tournament that included leading the field in qualifying and advancing through a tough match play bracket.
